We welcome the month of June with crisp mornings accompanied by warm coffee pick me ups. Not only has winter arrived but this month we recognise world orthoptic day! This year it lands on the 7th of June and we’d like to show our appreciation towards orthoptists around the world. We thank these professionals for dedicating their craft to assisting eye care specialists and helping improve vision care globally.
Orthoptists specialise in understanding and assessing the muscles of the eyes. An orthoptist also assists in the care of low vision patients, children with amblyopia and strabismus, and managing general eye concerns patients would like to enquire about. The role of an orthoptist is crucial in seeing patients from the initial consult through to the treatment of the patient’s condition and after care. They help streamline the process and are ready to answer all questions you may have about your eyes!
